UIA aircraft flying from Kyiv to New York made an emergency landing in Warsaw

 

The aircraft of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) flying from Kyiv to New York made an emergency landing in Warsaw on Friday. The aircraft is reported to reach its destination in the nearest future.

In her statement to the Interfax-Ukraine Evgenia Satskaya, the corporate press secretary of the UIA informed that the aircraft was forced to land in Warsaw for technical reasons. In some time all the necessary components for aircraft repair were delivered to Warsaw and the aircraft is now ready to continue its flight.

She also mentioned that passengers were served with drinks and food for several times. Satskaya noted that accommodation of passengers in the hotel for the time of the flight delay was complicated by the fact that Poland is part of the Schengen zone and most passengers did not have proper visas at that moment.

In the same time, the media reported with reference to the passengers of the flight that UIA aircraft flying from Kyiv to New York made an emergency landing for repair in Warsaw on Friday at approximately 15:00 (Moscow time). The passengers were taken to the airport terminal and “provided with no information and means of comfort”. The flight was delayed for several times and passengers were forced to sleep on cold benches inside the airport.
