UIA aircraft flying from Kyiv to New York made an emergency landing in Warsaw

 

The airplane of Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA Kyiv), that was flying by Kyiv-New York route, made an emergency landing in Polish capital Warsaw on Friday. Its flight to the destination point will soon be continued.

Corporate Press Secretary of the UIA airline, Ievgeniia Satska, informed the Interfax-Ukraine Agency that the plane was forced to land in Warsaw due to technical reasons. The necessary components were later delivered for the plane’s repair to Warsaw and it is currently ready for the departure.

According to her, the passengers were several times offered drinks and food. Ie. Satska noted that provision of hotel rooms for passengers for the time of the flight delay got complicated since Poland is in Schengen Zone, whereas most passengers did not have its visa at that moment.

The media reports, with reference to the passengers of this flight, that around 03:00 pm of Friday, Kyiv time, the UIA plane, making the Kyiv-New York flight, emergently landed in Warsaw for repair works. The passengers were taken to the airport's terminal and “were left without information and amenities”. The flight was postponed a number of times. All the while, the passengers were sleeping on cold chairs in the airport’s hall.
